Nancy Guthrie teaches the Bible through numerous Bible study books, at her home church, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Franklin, Tennessee, as well as at conferences around the country and internationally. She offers companionship and biblical insight to the grieving through Respite Retreats that she and her husband, David, host for couples who have faced the death of child, through the GriefShare video series, and through books such as Holding on to Hope and Hearing Jesus Speak into Your Sorrow. Her newest book, Even Better Than Eden: Nine Ways the Bible’s Story Changes Everything About Your Story released in August, 2018. She is also the host of the “Help Me Teach the Bible” podcast at The Gospel Coalition.

1. The Story of the Wilderness
We read in the second verse of the Bible that when God created the earth is was “without form and void.” It was like a barren wasteland until God spoke, filling it up with goodness. Sometimes our lives are like a barren wasteland. Can we expect that God will fill our lives with his goodness like he did at Creation?

2. The Story of the Offspring
At the beginning of the Bible’s story read about a promise God made—a promise made to the serpent that one day a child will be born who will crush his head. Throughout the rest of the Bible’s story we see the constant struggle between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman. So what does this ongoing battle have to do with us?
 
3. The Story of the Bridegroom
The Bible begins with God presenting Adam with his bride, Eve, and ends with God presenting Christ with his bride, the church, and everything in between is the story of God’s loving pursuit of his run-away bride. So what does this mean for us as women who long to be loved with a sacrificial, never-ending love?
